Question: Hi,

I ordered some plants from you yesterday for my backyard pond. The pond is a small preformed one, approximately 4' x 6' with a 3 tier water fall. I have  a small pump in the bottom and the water is recycled constantly. I have green particles floating in my water and the water is murky green in color. I have no fish in it and currently no plants. I intend to put your plants in it and no fish. The water in the pond is about 2 months old and came from 'city' water. What can I do to improve the quality of my pond water?

Thanks for your help.

Answer: Phyllis,

Sounds like pea soup algae to me. I would; use a biofilter on the pump that operates the waterfall, run the pump continuosly, and seed the pond with nitrifying bacteria weekly. We have had good success with Bata-Pur-Klear. These bacteria will starve the algae out of the water if you give them what they need. Your order will leave here Monday morning and will ship priority mail. Thanks and if there is any way we can help drop us a note.
