How do I tell the gender of the koi? I have two but I wonder if they are both males. I want to get a pair.

Telling the difference between the "boys and the girls" is sometimes a matter of watching their behavior in the late spring, the girls in the front of the chase and the males doing the chasing.

You can also tell the difference in the fish by looking at the area of the fish that is just in front of their vent. From a top view the females are much larger than the males are.

This is more difficult to tell on smaller immature fish.
