6/2/99QUESTION: I need some advice on how to go about setting up my pond.
Last year I had a 10x10 round pond aprox 18" deep. Of course I fell in love w/it and
now want to create an upper and lower pond w/a waterfall between the two. The
original pond has been dismantled. So I have that filter and liner. What I need to know is
what else would be required to make this happen (besides the holes in the ground) ) those
I do already have. I am looking for a filter and or pump that would act the best ...and a
way to use the waterfall to link the two etc. Any advice would be helpful. Sherry....
ANSWER: The size of the pump you need will be determined by 2 factors. 1.The total gallons of water in your system. You want to move at least 1/2 the total pond volume in an hour. 2. the width of the waterfall and how much water you want to see coming over it. i.e. If the waterfall you are going to build is 17 inches in width and you would like to fill that entire 17inch stone with water you will need at least a 1700 gph pump. As far as pumps and filters I like the ones we carry, they are what we use as well as what we sell. To connect the 2 ponds with a water fall use pongard pond liner its tough and flexible. I hope that this is helpful. Scott Bates Grass Roots Nursery |
