Question:
Do you know if a high pH is a problem for any types of aquatic plants?

Thank you

Kay Frasher

Answer:
Kay,

High pH can cause some problems for aquatic plants, particularly the floating plants (hyacinths, lettuce). Having a high pH also aids in culturing algae. In order for the bacteria to out compete the algae for food your pH should be between 6.8 and 8.0. Optimum will be around 7.2 .

Thanks and I hope that this was helpful,

Question:
I currently have a small koi pond of about 750 to 800 gallons of water not including the waterfalls. I have tested my water and the pH is quite high. What should I use at this time of the year to lower that?

Thank you for your guidance.

Kay

Answer:
Kay,

The easiest way to do that is with a good test kit and a Kent marines pH down.

Thanks and I hope that this was helpful
