10/2/99 Q: Pls. comment. Thank you! Joebalt..... A: Generally swimming pool filters are good at removing solid waste materials, i.e. fish waste, leaves, sediment, and some algae. They do not address the ammonia, nitrite, or nitrates. The ammonia and the nitrite can stress or kill fish. I would recommend using a biological filter and a good bacterial culture like Bacto Pur Klear to keep the nasties down below safe levels.
