Good things are happening at Grass Roots Nursery and in your backyard water
garden, let’s keep it that way.
What you can expect to see in your water garden at this time.
The appetite of your fish and critters will start to decrease.
The koi and goldfish have cooled off and slowed down, spending more time
in the deeper water.
The lotus and water lilies have stopped blooming.
The tree leaves are starting to collect on the pond bottom.
What can I do?
Check your pH and buffers. Adjust if needed. (bring in a water sample
and we can get you pointed in the right direction)
Net the debris from the pond bottom.
Feed the fish a diet higher in carbs and lower in protein (Fall Food).
Install leaf netting over your water garden.
Add beneficial bacteria to the pond. Klear, Sludgebusters, and Nutripak
are a great combination.
Attend one of our free classes for more how to.
What should I avoid doing this time of year?
Neglecting to add bacteria to the pond.
Over applying water treatments.
Ignoring the water chemistry.
Over Feeding the fish.
Running out of patience.
